Vivian (Vi) Vera Braby, age 85 of Amery, Wisconsin passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025.
Vivian was born on Sept. 26, 1939 in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, to Winnie and Donald Blaisdell. Vivian was the third born of eight children. She graduated from school in St Paul Park, Minnesota. She was married twice, and from these marriages four children were born. She worked various jobs throughout her life to support her family. She waitressed, worked as a CNA in a hospital and a nursing home, and held several factory jobs. The job she enjoyed most was working at the nursing home. She loved the people she helped care for. She left this job and took factory work as it paid a better wage. After she quit, her children spent many weekends with her visiting the residents of the nursing home, she felt so bad for having to leave them. But with four children to take care of she needed a better wage than what she could get at the nursing home. After her retirement she was a care provider for her mother and step-father. When they passed she bought a little farm by Amery where she could keep her animals.
When Vivian was younger she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, crafts and a good card game. She wrote and illustrated books for her children. The books were always about the adventures of the many pets she let her children have. Vivian was an avid reader, she loved to garden and had a house full of plants. She was most passionate about animals, there was not an animal that she didn’t love, and strays were always welcome. Her dog Trixie and her horses kept her happy in her later years. She often said her horses were her reason for getting up in the morning, and her dog Trixie kept her entertained.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Laurie; son, Dana; great granddaughter, Bianca; sisters, Joyce and Sharon; brothers, Ronald, Alvin, Duane and Dougal; brother-in-law, George; sisters-in-law, Mary & Arlene; and nephews, Todd, Jamie and Christopher.
Vivian is survived by her daughters, Gloria (Larry) Linder and Jenny (David) Wenker; grandchildren, Zeb Linder, Micaela (Jason) Stenner, Jordan Linder and Bridget (Alex) Wenker; great-grandchildren, Kenna, Gage and Camber Stenner, Morgan, and Vivian & Jackson Wenker; sister, Linda (Don) Saeger; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
