POLK & BURNETT COUNTIES - The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Barron, Burnett, Polk, and Washburn Counties. While there is a quick burst of snow passing through the area now (Monday, Feb. 20), that is not even close to what we will experience later in the week. The Winter Storm Watch goes into effect Tuesday (Feb. 21) evening and will run though Thursday (Feb. 23) afternoon. Heavy snow with total snow accumulations of 10 to 18 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 35 to 45 mph late Wednesday into Thursday. Travel could be very difficult to impossible, and the gusty winds could bring down tree branches and cause power outages. We plan to have video weather updates for you later in the week at www.leadericcpa.com and on the digital platforms of the Inter-County Leader.
