William "Wild Bill" Armstrong

William “Wild Bill” Armstrong lived his 72 years with an unmistakable combination of hard work, fierce loyalty, sharp wit and an enormous love for his family. He was born Oct. 26, 1953, and passed away Aug. 12, 2026.

A lifelong member of the Danbury community, Wild built Wild Bill’s in Webster into an iconic local stop and became the kind of person everyone seemed to know. He was a master outdoorsman and passionate whitetail hunter who turned years of hard work into his own little piece of hunting paradise. He loved his beagles, bib overalls, Wisconsin Badger football, local youth sports, morning coffee with friends, a good story and an even better one-liner—most of which cannot be printed here. But more than anything, Bill loved his people.

He and Linda celebrated 50 years of marriage this year, a life that included raising Karlyn and Kyle, hockey and pool parties, dancing with friends, winters in Arizona, quiet breakfasts watching wildlife, and countless wonderful meals together. Even when Bill could no longer stand near the end of his life, he and Linda still danced together in their home.

He was enormously proud of Karlyn. He shared an extraordinary friendship with his son, Kyle, whom he spoke with every day. Being Grandpa brought him tremendous joy—from side-by-side rides and deer stands with Sydney, Finley and Avery to the arrival of baby Luca, and the special place Billy Fish and his children, Ella and Jimmy, held in his heart.

Wild fought hard for every additional day he could have with the people he loved, and somehow kept everyone laughing right up until the end. We will miss his stories, his nicknames, his one-liners, his loyalty, his laugh and his larger-than-life presence.

You know who you are. And so did Wild.

The Celebration of Life for Bill will be held at Forts Folle Avoine, Danbury, Wisconsin, on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, starting at 11 a.m.

The Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Homes have been entrusted with arrangements.
