William “Bill” Henry White, 79, of Frederic, Wisconsin, passed away on Feb. 27, 2026, at Amery Hospital. Bill was born on July 28, 1946, to Velva (Grummons) and Marlin White in Frederic.

Following his graduation from Frederic High School in 1964, he went to machinist school in St. Croix Falls, and then worked for Case Tractor in Racine. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966, and went to basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. During basic training, he earned an expert marksman designation and distinguished himself as the top marksman in his battalion. Despite his skills on the range, he was selected to attend finance school due to his intelligence and attention to detail. He attended finance school and was assigned to the finance office at Fort McCoy for the remainder of his time in the Army. Whenever he was granted leave, he would hitchhike home to Frederic to spend time hunting or fishing. After two years of service, he was honorably discharged and returned to Case Tractor. When the factory workers went on strike in 1970, he chose to return to Frederic and became the Culligan Man in Centuria. He eventually went to work for Harry Anderson’s novelty business in Frederic.

On Aug. 23, 1975, he married Karoline Mohnsen at West Denmark Lutheran Church. They purchased a small house on the north end of Ward Lake where they would make their home for the next 50-plus years. During their time there, Bill and Karoline spent countless hours on the lake, as well as on the land they purchased across the road.

When Harry Anderson’s business was sold, Bill and one of his co-workers started G & B Novelty in Falun. They worked incredibly hard, and Bill was proud of the business he and his partner had created. They were able to sell the business in 2001, and Bill retired at the age of 55.

In retirement, Bill enjoyed working on his tractors and hobby farming, as well as hunting, fishing, and golfing. He made numerous trips out west, hunting mule deer, elk and antelope. Bill came home with lots of stories about the game harvested, as well as the adventures and laughter he and his hunting group enjoyed.

Another highlight of his retirement was his annual fishing trips to Canada with his family. Playing cards, catching fish, and enjoying good food and company at Forest Lake Lodge brought him much joy.

Bill was known for being quick with a joke, and for his love of pulling pranks.  He was easy to talk to and loved to tell stories. He was also kind, thoughtful, and willing to help family and friends in any way he could.

Bill was preceded in death by his twin brother in infancy; parents; mother and father-in-law, Edie and Alvin Mohnsen; sister, Marilyn Brenizer; brother-in-law, Bill Brenizer; niece, Kelly Nelson; and nephew, Randy Brenizer.

He is survived by his wife, Karoline White; sons, Nathan (Christina) of Frederic, and Josh (Andrea) of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Will, AJ, Gavin, and Emelia; brother, Marlin (Kris) White; sister, Roxanne (Bill Johnson) White; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bruce and Marsha Mohnsen; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
