William “Bill” Leonard Tretsven, 72, of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 12, at 7:25 a.m. in his home on the Tretsven farm that has been in the family for 85 years. Bill was surrounded by his wife of 53 years, Nancy, and their four daughters, Terri, Tanya, Tammy and Tracy, and his sister, Linda, all by his side. Bill, like his brothers, Jim and Larry, and sister, Judy, has now ended his courageous battle with alpha1 antitrypsin deficiency.

Bill was born May 28, 1951, in Frederic, Wisconsin, to Kenneth and Vierlyn (Harder) (Tretsven) Anderson. He lived and worked on the family farm and attended school in St. Croix Falls where he lettered in football and wrestling. In 1969, Bill lost his father, Ken, and met the love of his life, Nancy Kobs. In 1970, they got married, purchased the family farm and he graduated from high school, and by 1977 they had four beautiful daughters.

Bill had a strong work ethic which he passed down to his daughters. While farming for 38 years, he always held a second job away from the farm. Some included being a crane operator, cheese production, road maintenance for the township and retired from Andersen Windows. Bill loved the many seasons throughout the year including planting, harvesting, hunting, fishing and spending the holidays with his family.

Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother and father, Vierlyn and Kenneth; brothers, Jim and Larry; and his sister, Judy.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; daughters, Terri (Gary) Mertz, Tanya Tretsven, Tammy Merth-Tretsven (John) and Tracy (Jeremy) Wilkerson; sister, Linda Chinander; brother-in-law, Steve (Judy) Parker; 11 grandchildren, McKayla, Mason, Madison, Landon, Logan, Arial, Nolan, Payton, Nolan, Kailey and Kellen, whom he loved so very much.

Our family would like to thank the following facilities: St. Croix Health, University of Minnesota, Luck Pioneer Home, St. Croix Hospice and Journey of Life HomeCare. A special thank-you to his daughter, Tanya, for providing genuine home care throughout his journey.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Dresser, Wisconsin. Condolences may be expressed online at grandstrandfh.com.
