Steven A. Lillie

Steven A Lillie, 74, went home, peacefully, to be with the Lord on Nov. 5, 2023.

Born June 16, 1949, to parents Grayce and Carl Lillie, Steven had three brothers and one sister.

Steven grew up and attended schools in the White Bear Lake, Minnesota, area.

When he was old enough, Steven took a job with Rehbein’s Construction Co., running heavy equipment. He enjoyed it so much that it turned into his life’s work. He also helped out by driving a semitruck.

Sometimes on the weekends you would find him working on vehicles or helping out friends. When he wasn't working hard he found time to relax with yearly fishing trips to International Falls, always bringing back a mess of walleyes. He also loved hunting deer, moose and elk. The freezer was never empty. Steven loved the outdoors, taking part in camping, water-skiing, horseback riding, playing softball and riding motorcycles. Later in the years Steven and his friends picked up the sport of golf. This was supposed to be a relaxing time, but Steven and his friends made it funny and daring, playing tournaments and winning trophies, always having a good time taking in nature and maybe a few beers along the way.

During football season you could find him cheering on his favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings. Playing the tickets and the boards, Steven seemed to be holding onto a lucky horseshoe during football season. Steven brought a certain kind of light to any situation with his quick wit, saucy comebacks and no filter. This was just his way to balance out all the love in his heart.

Steven retired when diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. He managed to live life to the fullest the best way he could, always with a smile and pushing through, even modifying his own shoes so he could walk better. Steven was a man of great strength and his perseverance to live life his way often surprised most people who didn't know him.

Steven had many wonderful dedicated friends who were watching out for him, helping him out, and always there for him. Steven was loved by so many people. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and his dog, Lucy.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer. Details will follow closer to the event.
