Shirlie Anne Bump, 86, a resident of St. Croix Falls, passed away Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Shirlie was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Edward and Eleanor (Kotefka) Wegleitner on July 22, 1937.
Shirlie was well-versed in shorthand and was recruited out of high school for secretarial work. She and Harry Bump were married on Saturday, Oct. 8, 1955, at Maternity of Mary Catholic Church in St. Paul.
She then raised her four beloved children and enjoyed her German schnauzers. She had multiple blue ribbons from the Dunn County Fair for canning and baking. She purchased the Indianhead Motel in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, in May of 1975, which she ran for 17 years until she retired with her husband to Webster. While spending winters in Earp, California, her favorite pastime was watching sports. She was an avid Vikings and Twins fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching NASCAR and Formula One. She touched the hearts of all who met her and will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
Shirlie was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Eleanor; her husband, Harry; and cherished son, Jeffrey Bump.
She will always be remembered by her children, Robyn Becthold, Joel (Paula) Bump and Jason (Geni) Bump; sister, Janet Mulheran; and brother, Jim Wegleitner; eight grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
