Ruth Hope Nutt went home to Jesus on Aug. 13, 2024, at the age of 87.
Ruth was born to Evelyn and Joseph C. Smith on Dec. 1, 1936, in Meenon Township, Burnett County, Wisconsin. Ruth attended elementary school in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, and graduated from St. Croix Falls High School in 1956. As a young woman, Ruth enjoyed cooking and baking. Her favorite class in high school was Home Economics where she learned her domestic skills. Ruth met her husband, Stanley Nutt, in 1958 at the Frederic Hospital where she worked as a nurse. They married June 20, 1959, at the First Baptist Church in Milltown, Wisconsin, and went on to have four children, Douglas, Wayne, Debra and Sandra.
Ruth accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at the age of eight, and at the age of 14, she chose to publicly profess her faith by being baptized. Her faith in Christ was strong and she devoted her time to reading scripture and praying for each of her children, 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Ruth loved spending time with all her family during the holidays and other special occasions. She also enjoyed writing out personal cards for each family member for Christmas and birthdays. Ruth will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her devotion to her family, and her unwavering faith in God.
Ruth was preceded in death by Stanley Nutt; Evelyn and Joseph C. Smith; brothers, Donald and Daniel Smith; and sister, Donna Mae Smith.
