Richard Dean Morse Sr., 80, passed away on Jan. 5, 2025, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, due to heart problems.
Richard was born to Harold and Alice (DeWitt) Morse in Frederic, Wisconsin, on March 22, 1944. He graduated from Siren High School in 1962. Following graduation, he moved in with relatives in California. There he went to carpentry school. When he was not working, he enjoyed spending time with his relatives and learning how to waterski.
He moved back to Siren, Wisconsin, and worked on the family farm. He also started working at Penta Wood Products. He was friends with many of his coworkers there. One of his friends was an older man named William (Willie) Stellrecht. He met Willie’s daughter Caroline and the two started dating. Richard and Caroline fell in love and were married in 1965. They had six children and Richard took over the family farm. He farmed, which he loved, for many years. He also worked many other jobs including logging, truck driving, and working for Hopkins Sand & Gravel driving dump truck for approximately 20 years.
As if having a family, farming and working weren’t enough, he also had many hobbies. His hobbies included deer hunting, playing cards, horseshoes, men’s slow pitch softball, pool, and bowling. Every Wednesday he enjoyed playing cards and chatting with the fellas at Sundown Saloon then heading to The Tap to have coffee and BS with the people there. Needless to say, Richard loved to BS. He was known for that, his smile and his laugh. Another thing he loved to do, from early on, was dance (even in the kitchen) with the love of his life, his wife Caroline.
Richard is survived by his loving wife (of 59 years) Caroline; his children, Kevin (Tammy) Morse, Lisa Morse (Dan), Tammy (Dave) Clark, Chad (Robin) Morse, and Travis (Amanda) Morse; his 23 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Harold and Alice; brothers, Duane, Harold David, and Kenny; sister, Annabelle Feltman; and his son, Richard (Rick) Morse Jr.
Richard will be greatly missed by his wife, Caroline, his children, family and friends. His little dogs, Tiny and Rex, will also miss him.
