Raymond E. Domagala was born in Bowman, North Dakota, on March 14, 1936, to Joseph and Ellen Domagala. His family moved to Clam Falls, Wisconsin, in 1946, and he attended school in Frederic, Shell Lake, and Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. After graduation in 1954, he served four years in the Army with two-plus years in Germany driving around his company commander.
On Jan. 17, 1959, he married Judy Alden, and they had three children, Robin, Scott and Brad. Over the years, he worked for Hamm’s brewery in St. Paul, Minnesota, moved back to Clam Falls in 1970, and owned the Clam Falls Tavern until 1982, where he enjoyed working with the customers and calling circle two steps. In 1987, he bought and owned the Glass bar in Centuria, Wisconsin, until 1997.
As he loved meeting and talking with people, after he retired he drove patients all over for doctors’ appointments for many years. He also managed the water level in the Clam Falls Flowage dam for many years to make sure the water level wasn’t too high or low, and then was able to watch the new dam being built.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, get-togethers at the “big house” with his extended family, racing motorcycles while in Germany, playing baseball for the Clam Falls team where he was known for all his home runs, dancing, hunting, fishing, and watching the Twins and Viking Games.
Ray is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Robin Severson, Scott Domagala, Brad and Paula Domagala; grandchildren, Lindsey and Timmy Hovde, Brady and Cearah Severson, Lauren Domagala, Lexi and Garrett Lunsmann, Sydney Domagala and Tessa Domagala; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor Duncan, Mary Anderson, Margie LaBoda and Susie Donohoe; brother, Richard Domagala; sister-in-law, Bonnie (and Dan) Mattson; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ellen Domagala; parents-in-law, Ray and Leone Alden; brothers, Harold Rogers and Joe Domagala; sister, Delores Duncan; and daughter-in-law, Kelly Domagala.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Ray’s 90th birthday on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Rippin Lips (Clam Falls Tavern), from 1 to 5 p.m.
