Patricia Anne Little passed away gently in her sleep on Oct. 3, 2023. She was 90 years old.

Pat was predeceased by her parents, Mary Ann (Monroe) Sweet and James Big Bear Sweet; her brothers, Raymond, Bernard, James, George (“Bud”), and baby brothers, Bernard Arthur and George Henry (both also named Tum-Ah-Dee”). She was also predeceased by her husband, Russell E. Little, and her daughter, Carol Ann.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise; son, Raymond, and daughter-in-law, Cindy. Grandma Pat was also so very proud of her grandsons, Damon and Vaughn, Sean, Shannon, and Shane Tretsven; and her great-grandchildren, Natawhis, Jasmine, Bazile, Sophia, Emma, Larry, Clarry and Yelhsa. She also had three great-great children, José, Juana and Dean. Pat also leaves behind her faithful companion, Garfield the Cat.

Pat was born March 16, 1933, in Cloquet, Minnesota. The daughter of James B. and Mary Ann “Coonie” (Monroe) Sweet, Pat was an enrolled member of the Mississippi Band Chippewa Tribe. She lived with her family at Nisswa and Cass Lake, Minnesota, until attending school at St. Benedict’s Mission in White Earth, Minnesota, and Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, South Dakota. After her marriage to Russ, Pat settled with her husband and children in Britt, Minnesota, for a period of time. In 1963, they moved to Wisconsin, and eventually made the St. Croix Falls area their permanent home.

Pat was a devoted mother, proud grandmother and beloved auntie to many children, whether by blood or by heart. She enjoyed inviting others into her home, so her younger relatives enjoyed their summer vacations in the country. In the winter, Pat loved to sew, crochet and put jigsaw puzzles together. She was always delighted to play board games or a game of cards, especially with her grandchildren. Pat also enjoyed holiday gatherings where she could help prepare a proper feast for all. She will be truly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. May the loving arms of the Creator embrace them all.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, family, relatives and community friends may make a tribute donation to the Dementia Society of America.

The family would like to acknowledge the loving care and attention that was provided by her caregivers at St. Croix Hospice, the Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Frederic, Wisconsin, the Osceola Medical Center, and Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. We would like to especially thank Dr. Potek and Dr. Belisle. Your kindness will always be remembered.

A Celebration of Life will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the home of Ray and Cindy Little.
