MADISON – Northern Wisconsin was well represented over the weekend at one of the largest model railroad shows in the state. Thousands of people gathered on Saturday, Feb. 18, and Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison for the Mad City Model Railroad Show and Sale. There was something for everyone who enjoys the hobby of trains, from more than one dozen model railroad layouts, to vendors, to historical societies in attendance. Several clubs and organizations from our four-county readership area were in attendance. There was also a good collection of Soo Line memorabilia and displays to be had. The Soo Line was a major railroad company that operated through our area. The annual show is put on by the WISE Division of the National Model Railroad Association. Organizer Bob McGeever was happy with the turnout and how things went, saying, “Things have really bounced back. I have just looked at the Saturday attendance numbers and they are back to where they were pre-COVID, and we are quite happy with that.” The next major railroad show in Wisconsin will be held in Green Bay on the weekend of Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2.
