Mary Theresa Swank, age 74, of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, passed away Sept. 7, 2023, at the St. Croix Medical Center in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin.

Mary was born an only child to parents Stanley and Mildred (Wylie) Demulling on Dec. 15, 1948, in Amery, Wisconsin. She attended Osceola High School and graduated in 1968.

On June 20, 1970, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Swank at the United Methodist Church in Osceola, Wisconsin. The couple were blessed with two sons, Michael and Matthew. In 1972, Bob and Mary started a business they would own and operate together for 27 years, called Swank’s Meats.

After selling the business to family, the couple moved to Darby, Montana, where they spent 23 blissful years in retirement. During her time in retirement, Mary enjoyed watching her favorite cowboy TV shows, which included a lot of “Gunsmoke.” Mary also enjoyed genealogy research and making books for family members of the Demulling, Swank and Simons family tree. Bob and Mary moved back to Wisconsin in 2021 to be closer to family as her Parkinson’s disease progressed.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Harry and Mardella Swank; and siblings-in-law, Charlie “Chuck” and MaryAnn Swank. She is survived by her husband, Robert; sons, Mike (Barb) and Matt; grandchildren, Brandon and Justin; and other extended family and friends.

A memorial service will take place from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, at the American Legion in Balsam Lake. Burial will take place at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in East Farmington, Wisconsin.
