Marcielle Alice Rogers, age 94, of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 25, 2026, surrounded by family at Lyngblomsten Care Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was born on Aug. 30, 1931, at home in Shafer, Minnesota, to Edith and Melwyn Carlson.

She was raised on a farm where she learned the value of hard work, a trait that guided her throughout her life. She graduated from Taylors Falls High School in Minnesota in 1949 and worked at Tangen Drug until moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to try out city life as a bookkeeper. Prior to moving to the cities, she met a young handsome man named Lee Rogers who courted her while she lived in the cities. Not wanting her to get away, Lee proposed to her on Christmas Eve 1953 and lured her back. They were married in 1954 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Taylors Falls and made their home in St. Croix Falls on Deer Lake where they raised a family, which included four children, Jeff, Jeanne, Charlie and Tim. Marcielle provided a cornerstone of support for her husband Lee as he developed and grew two successful businesses with his partners—The Lagoon, the former supper club on Deer Lake, and Trollhaugen, a family-friendly ski area in Dresser, Wisconsin.

Marcielle was known for her kindness, even-temperedness and strength. She was the consummate mom and homemaker. She was a skilled seamstress and volunteered her talents at church sewing quilts. An excellent cook, Marcielle loved trying new recipes and had a knack for perfect timing, ensuring every dish was ready to serve all at once. She was best known to those closest to her for the dozens of homemade cookies she kept tucked away in the freezer, because they never lasted long enough to stay in the cookie jar. Her love for gardening also carried into the kitchen, where for many years she canned and preserved the many vegetables and fruits she grew.

Many of her midlife years were spent bowling and golfing in leagues, passions that kept her active and helped her build lifelong friends. As she aged, she kept her mind sharp by playing a weekly game of “Hand and Foot” with a close circle of friends. A formidable cribbage player, Marcielle often outmatched even her toughest family competitors, skillfully counting and pegging her way to a win. She especially cherished the time spent with her family, frequently caring for her grandchildren when they were young and hosting celebrations, birthdays and special events. We are grateful for all that she did for her family and the love that she gave. The loss of her leaves an empty space in our hearts.

She is survived by her children, Jeff, Jeanne (Andrew) Jones, and Charles (Belinda); daughter-in-law, Chieko; grandchildren, McKenzie Jones, Abby (Taylor Nordby) Jones, Brooke (Nick) Vogt, Kate Rogers, Charles Rogers, Ryan Rogers, and Luke Rogers; two great-grandchildren, Van and Hayes Nordby; and sisters, Marilyn Tangen and Grace Bonderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee Rogers; son, Tim; and brother, Harlan Carlson.

A memorial service for Marcielle will take place 11 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2026, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taylors Falls. Visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place later at Balsam Lake Cemetery.
