Manitou Ballpark working hard to organize and pursue plans

TOWN OF EUREKA – Organizers of the Manitou Community Club invited the public to a membership drive and history information gathering on Saturday, April 15. The Manitou Community Club just recently acquired the Manitou Ballpark from the town of Eureka. Ideas for restoring the park have ranged from bringing it back to a full functioning ballpark, to creating more of a park setting with a historical landmark presence to it.

Current board members consist of Kevin O’Brian, Jerry Gravelle, Karen Gravelle, Francisco Trejo, Molly Potting, Kelly Lang, Sammy Owen and Jim Snyder and a membership list of over fifty paying members. The board is focusing on getting committees set up, examples include fundraising, groundskeeping and public relations committees. Obtaining quality liability insurance and organizing a cleanup day is also high on their to-do list. Memberships cost $5 and the Manitou Community Club is happy to add more members. An annual meeting will be held in May, where any new faces will be welcome.
