Loretta “Ret” Larsen

Loretta “Ret” Larsen was born on Sep. 21, 1932, to Dave and Barbara Hutton, the youngest of ten children. She was raised in the Georgetown Township area and graduated from Milltown High School. Following graduation, she moved to the metro area where she worked as a secretary for several years.

On July 23, 1955, she married the love of her life, Roger Larsen. Together they built a life in the Luck area, purchasing their home in 1958, where they would spend decades creating memories and building a life together. Their son, Randy, was born soon after and became the center of their family.

Ret was known for her incredible work ethic and resourcefulness. Over the years, she and Roger continually improved and remodeled their home, always taking pride in the life they were building together. For many years they raised pigs to help supplement the family income. Around 1968, Ret began working at MPM Plastics in Frederic, Wisconsin, where she worked faithfully until her retirement.

Those who knew Ret knew she was rarely idle. She had a deep love for animals and nature. Feeding the birds was a daily ritual, and there was always at least one loyal dog by her side. Her remarkable raspberry patch was legendary—producing an astonishing 750 quarts of berries one summer alone.

Spring meant maple syrup season, a tradition she and Roger embraced with enthusiasm. A couple of times each year, church members looked forward to her famous glazed doughnuts, made with care and generosity. Summers were filled with gardening and tending to her beautiful flowers. When fall arrived, her kitchen transformed into a hub of activity—canning garden produce, preserving berries, and processing venison from deer hunting season. Ret’s home was always a place of productivity, warmth, and abundance.

Ret spent her final year in the compassionate care of the United Pioneer Home in Luck, Wisconsin, where she passed peacefully on Feb. 17, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings. She is survived by her loving husband of many years, Roger; her son, Randy; her sister, Dorothy; as well as many dear friends and countless extended family members who will remember her kindness, strength, and unwavering dedication to family and home.

Ret’s life was defined by hard work, devotion, and quiet generosity. Her hands were rarely still, her home was always welcoming, and her life was a testament to the beauty of simple things done with love. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
