Linnea Brask, 91, made a quick trip to heaven from her hospital bed at Fairview Hospital in Burnsville, Minnesota, on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at 11:42 a.m. Her children were with her as she peacefully departed her earthly body.
Linnea Elizabeth Brask was born to Carl and Ruth Anderson in Dassel, Minnesota, on Aug. 22, 1932. Her birth was at the height of the Great Depression.
Life was not always easy for Linnea on the family farm. However, there was always plenty to go around of what mattered most – godly parents, two great siblings (Rose Edin and Wes Anderson) and lots of relatives and friends to share life together.
Linnea graduated from Dassel High School in 1950 as the valedictorian of her class. In the fall, she went to St. Cloud State College to study to become an elementary schoolteacher.
Linnea began her teaching career in Rush City, Minnesota, in 1952 where she taught second grade for three wonderful years.
During that time, she met a handsome young farmer from just across the river in Wisconsin. They fell in love and were married on June 10, 1955. To this wonderful marriage, four children were brought into the world: Keith - 1956 (Cindy), Diane - 1957, Jolene - 1960 and Janelle -1964 (Tom). Theresa became part of the Brask family as a foster daughter in 1984.
Linnea loved children and invested in them her whole life. She directed many Christmas and Easter programs at Trade Lake Baptist and served as dean of girls at Wood Lake Bible Camp for many years.
The highlight of Linnea’s teaching career was when she became the director of Grace Baptist Nursery School in 1975. She retired in the spring of 2000 after 25 delightful years. Without a doubt she left a legacy in the lives of hundreds of children.
When it became too difficult for Linnea to live on the farm, she moved into assisted living at Shady Knoll in Grantsburg where she was treated like family by Greg Peer and his staff.
The last few years of Linnea’s life were spent at the Continuing Care Center in Grantsburg. Director Carol Ahlquist and her staff provided her with consistent care and compassion.
Linnea is survived by her four adult children; foster daughter; four dearly loved grandchildren, Matthew, Rachel, Kristine and Andrew; and a host of nieces and nephews who fondly knew her as Aunty Linny. Special recognition goes to Kandis Olson for being such an extraordinary niece! Linnea is also survived by countless friends who loved her dearly.
The service to honor Linnea was held Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Calvary Covenant Church in Alpha, Wisconsin. Pastor Scott Sagle and nephew, Reverend Carl Anderson officiated.
Linnea was buried at the Trade Lake Swedish Mission Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Les Olson, Matthew Brask, Bob Rauchbauer, Ryan Rauchbauer, Noah Rauchbauer and Trent Rauchbauer.
Linnea’s entire life was a living testimony of her love for Jesus and the Bible. In light of this, all memorials given will be used for Bibles for the Nations with Global Seed Planters. You can give online at GlobalSeedPlanters.org. In the note section, write “Bibles for the Nations.”
