Laura (Hughes) Van Pelt passed away on July 19, 2025, at Amery Hospital in Amery, Wisconsin, and is buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery alongside her husband, Paul. She is survived by her two sons, daughter, two grandsons, granddaughter, brother, sister, and many other family members and friends.
Laura, also known as Tudy to her family and close friends, loved her family and friends, God, Jesus Christ, genealogy, family reunions, dancing, reading, being in nature, and helping others.
She spent much of her professional career as a Certified Medical Assistant at many local hospitals in Polk and Burnett counties in Wisconsin. Laura was an advocate for the elderly and people with health challenges, even taking them to doctor appointments and ensuring their medical expenses were accurately billed. She was a selfless giver of her time, money, and talents to family, friends, coworkers, and anyone she would meet.
Laura was a true peacemaker who exemplified unconditional love. Throughout life’s challenges, she held her head high, kept her unwavering faith, and helped countless others along the way, and never expected anything in return. She looked for the good in everyone and was a great example of love, sacrifice, and service.
