John Plummer, 66, of Frederic, Wisconsin, (previously of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin), passed away June 6, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, mentor, and friend, who will be deeply missed.

Those that knew John best would say that he would hate a flowery obituary. He was often heard saying, “I’m not perfect, and I never claim to be.” Yet, those same people would say that John deserved the recognition he rarely gave himself. He was a hardworking man who was blessed with many skills and passions that he used to try to make his small corner of the world a better place every single day.

He was always up to something. Whether it was remodeling a bathroom or building a custom table, his artistry and craftsmanship were second to none. If he wasn’t building something from wood, he could be found rebuilding a snowplow truck or making a new part for his beloved tractor “Johnny” so that he could help make a neighbor or a family member’s life easier. He wasn’t always about work though. He was an avid archer and any chance he would get, he would be shooting or tuning up his bow, helping plan an upcoming hunt with friends, or researching and studying the latest trends in archery and hunting. As he always said, “I learn something new every day.” No one could ever say John didn’t stay busy.

But he was never too busy to stop and take time to spend with his beloved dogs––oftentimes going out of his way to cook them an extra burger on the grill or let them lick off the beaters when he’d make his signature peanut butter frosting. For John, his dogs were never just pets, they were family. One of his favorite things to do was to grab his black bag, load up the dogs, and go to his favorite place in the world––his cabin. John was always at his happiest when his family was all together there at the cabin.

Out of all of that, what made him the happiest was making others’ dreams come true. Whether that was helping them build their dream home, crafting their dream one-of-a-kind furniture piece, plant their dream garden, or tune up their bow for the hunting adventure they always dreamed of––John would always go the extra mile to help make someone’s dream a reality. It is that legacy that will live on in those whose lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife, Marian; his son, Nate; and his beloved pets, Bella, Ato, and Fibby.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John’s memory to the World Central Kitchen at wck.org, or if mailing a check, make it payable to World Central Kitchen, Inc. and mail to World Central Kitchen, PO Box 96538, Washington, D.C. 20090.
