John Palmer Berg

John Palmer Berg, age 69, of Frederic, Wisconsin, died at home on Sept. 30, 2026, with his wife lovingly by his side.

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, John graduated from Osseo High School in 1975. After a long and rewarding career in computer network engineering, he retired to his property in Bone Lake Township near Frederic, where he made a life filled with the people and pursuits he loved.

John will be remembered for his generous spirit, capable hands, strong work ethic, and wonderful sense of humor. Dependable and kind, he shared his time and talents freely. He helped paint and build homes with Habitat for Humanity, donated more than 10 gallons of blood over his lifetime, and served weeklong shifts in disaster zones with Operation BBQ Relief, offering care and comfort to people during some of their most difficult days.

John found joy in life’s simple pleasures and took great pride in working with his hands. He enjoyed a good craft IPA and loved brewing his own beer and mead. Over the years, he became skilled at smoking and grilling meat, often sharing the results with those around him. Fishing was another favorite pastime, whether from his pontoon on a warm day or in the middle of a frozen lake. At home, he was happiest putzing around his property—tending his vegetable garden, splitting wood, building and fixing things, and caring for his bees. A loyal Minnesota sports fan, John especially cheered for the Minnesota Wild and the always-hopeful Minnesota Vikings.

John treasured time with his dogs, but nothing brought him more joy than being with his grandchildren.

John is lovingly remembered by his wife, Tammy; his children, Adam (Keely) and Kelly; his grandchildren, ShayLee, Taya, Palmer, and Clark; and his siblings, Bill, Randy, and Peggy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie and Palmer Berg.

John leaves behind family and friends who will deeply miss his steady presence, practical wisdom, adventurous spirit, and the countless ways he showed his love—through service, hard work, laughter, and time spent together. The memories they made with him will be treasured and carried forward for years to come.

Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in remembrance of John on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Rowe Funeral Home in Luck, Wisconsin.

Guests are encouraged to share their favorite stories and memories as we celebrate John’s life and the many ways he touched those who knew him.

Those wishing to honor John’s memory may make a memorial gift to the Frederic Grocery Co-op at fredericgrocerycoop.org/donate or to Operation BBQ Relief at operationbbqrelief.org.
