Jo Ann (Duncan) Schmidt, age 91, of Frederic, Wisconsin, passed away on Sept. 22, 2026.
Jo Ann was born on Aug. 9, 1935, in West Sweden Township to Lyman A. and Lola (Boots) Duncan. She began her education at Pleasant Dale School before attending Frederic Grade School and Frederic High School, graduating with the Class of 1953. In her early career, she was employed by Jewel Tea Co. and Eibert Coffee Company.
On Oct. 13, 1962, Jo Ann was united in marriage to Edward A. Schmidt of Osceola. Together, they spent most of their married life residing in the Osceola and Farmington area before making their home in Frederic in 1992. Jo Ann spent a number of years working as a bookkeeper for A-1 Machine.
Jo Ann lived a full and wonderful life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Schmidt; her parents, Lyman and Lola Duncan; brothers, Wesley, Boyd, and Mack Duncan; sister, Jean Fenton; brother-in-law, Clifford Fenton; and sisters-in-law, Cecilia Duncan and Delores (Domagala) Duncan.
Jo Ann is survived by her sister-in-law, Eleanor (Domagala) Duncan of Frederic; nephews, Kevin (Joanie) Duncan, James Duncan, and Jack Fenton; nieces, Charlene (Randy) Stocker and Darlene Peterson; along with many cherished great- and great-great nieces and nephews.
A private family burial will take place at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in East Farmington.
