Janice F. Spoelstra passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026 at 12:05 p.m. at Frederic Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.

Janice was born on May 3, 1947, to Rancy and Alice Alberts at Adrian Memorial Hospital in Adrian, Minnesota. She was the youngest of four children. She grew up and attended country grade school up until sixth grade and then went to Rushmore Public until she went to high school at Worthington High School in Worthington, Minnesota.

Janice was united in marriage to Merle Spoelstra on Feb. 27, 1971, at First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore, Minnesota. She and Merle raised five boys on the family farm south of Rushmore. After several small moves, Janice, Merle, and the boys bought a farm in Cushing, Wisconsin, on Dec. 4, 1989, where she resided until her death. She worked at Frandsen Bank & Trust for 24 years as head teller. She loved her job. She did a marvelous job on running the lawn mower, farm errands, visiting old bank customers, being with and looking after her boys, cooking, canning, and doing community political work. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She will be sadly missed by family, especially her husband.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Rancy and Alice Alberts; her brothers, Merle Alberts and Roger Alberts; one niece; and two nephews.

Janice is survived by her husband, Merle Spoelstra; her children, Jason (Erica), Jeremy (Liz), Justin (Becky), Josh, and Jeff (Tara); her sister, Joyce Harberts; 11 grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Thank you to anyone who had been one of the many friends of Janice.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church (719 Nevada St., St. Croix Falls, WI 54024) with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Her service will be lived streamed on the “First Presbyterian Church St. Croix Falls WI” Facebook page as well at @FirstPresbyterianSCF. Janice will be laid to rest at Emanuel Presbyterian Church in Rushmore, Minnesota.

A special thank you to the team at St. Croix Hospice, the staff at Frederic Rehabilitation Community, and the congregation at First Presbyterian Church for all their care and support.
