ST. CROIX FALLS - The line of cars to get in to the annual Valentine’s candlelight hike on the Wisconsin side of Interstate State Park was backed up almost to State Highway 35 throughout the night, but that didn’t deter too many of those who came out to experience some special time in the outdoors. The evening of Saturday, Feb. 11, brought the lovers of hiking, the romantic at heart and loving families of the valley to one of the best state parks in the area. Those who attended had the choice of enjoying the snowshoe trail, which was three-fourths of a mile long, or the 1-mile-long hiking trail. Both were illuminated with hundreds of candles to assure Valentine’s Day weekend was magical here in the North Woods. Even those who didn’t want to hit the trails had options. A fire pit was roaring behind the visitor center, which was open to view exhibits and listen to a local band perform some tunes.
