AMERY – The benefit with the Navy Sea Cadets on Saturday, March 25, was put together to raise money for the cadets to obtain new and updated uniforms, be able to do things such as a Heroes Course, I-Fly, camping, on-the-water trainings and other educational opportunities. It featured meat, gift cards, cash, 50/50 raffles, gift baskets and other items, as well as food.
One of the organizers, Missy Fauber, stated that this was “chance to get them out into the public and build their social skills, public speaking and working as a unit. We have also gotten them to be a part of Adopt-A-Highway in Osceola which we will be doing next month during our drill weekend.” Funds from the fundraisers are also used to get the unit out into the community giving back. Besides Adopt-A-Highway cleanup twice a year, they’ve gotten out and bagged groceries in Osceola and are getting more time with the Amery Veterans of Foreign Wars for flag ceremonies, Navy funerals and parades.
