RICE LAKE – The Grantsburg girls co-op gymnastics team earned a road victory on Thursday.
Despite Rice Lake’s Avery Ash accounting for four first-place finishes, Grantsburg’s depth gave it a point total of 120.475, while Bloomer was second with 118.75 and Rice Lake was third with 107.375.
Abby Rombach provided an event win for Grantsburg, finishing the uneven bars with a 7.35. Khylie Young-Garayt was third with a 7.325 and Anita Finch was fourth with a 6.775.
Finch, 8.85, and Young-Garayt, 8.7, had a 2-3 finish behind Ash, 9.225, on the vault. Finch, 8.45, was runner-up to Ash, 8.9, on the balance beam; she also was second to Ash, 8.95, in the floor exercise with an 8.4. Rombach was fifth in the floor exercise with a 7.65.
Finch, 32.475, and Young-Garayt, 30.625, provided another 2-3 finish in the all-around with Ash, 34.4, in first. Rombach, 30.35, was fifth in the all-around.
Grantsburg’s JV team, 79.1, was second to Bloomer, 100.35. Kandice Capistrant, 22.3, and Madeline Kramer, 21.2, had a 1-2 finish in the all-around; Capistrant, 6.8, also was third on the balance beam with Sammi Kramer, 6.6, in fourth.
Grantsburg goes to River Falls for an invitational this Saturday.
