Gary Anderson, husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa, passed away comfortably at age 83 on Sunday, April 19, 2026. His family has been with him on his earthly journey and are saddened but also relieved he is free from the limitations and pain of living with dementia. We believe our merciful Lord has raised him up.
Gary’s family began with his marriage to Mary Jo in August 1962 in Red Wing, Minnesota. They were blessed with two daughters, Sheryl Jean and Jodi Lynn. The family expanded to include two sons-in-law, Timothy Grote and Timothy O’Connor; five exceptional grandchildren and their spouses and significant others; and six beautiful great-grandchildren. In 2002, they moved to Bone Lake, Luck, Wisconsin.
He also leaves behind his sister Barbara Jean and her family, and other extended family and friends. He often would remark on how amazing nature is and enjoyed everything outdoors: fishing, hunting, camping, lawn mowing, gardening, snow shoveling, ice fishing, feeding the birds and just walking in nature. We will miss him, will remember not to cast too close to someone else’s bobber and to always acknowledge out loud that “It’s a beautiful day.”
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 11 a.m., at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Frederic, Wisconsin, with visitation at 10 a.m.
You are invited to leave condolences, memories, and photos at rowefh.com. Arrangements are entrusted to the Rowe Funeral Home.
