Fred Chapman Jr., age 88, of Crystal, Minnesota, passed away on Aug. 28, 2026. He was born on Feb. 13, 1938, in Dairyland, Wisconsin.
Fred loved spending his time tinkering with his tractors and working with his hands. He could and did fix just about everything. Spending time at his cabin in Wisconsin, where he grew up, was especially important to him. Fred loved to travel. Some of his favorite trips included a trip to Hawaii, yearly family trips, and many trips to Wyoming and Florida. In addition to traveling around the USA, Fred also took trips to Europe, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
Fred had many occupations over the years. He started running his family farm when he was about 12 years old. After farming, Fred served our country in the Army Security Agency. When he returned home from the Army, he worked as a printer at the Leader Newspaper. Fred continued his printing career at the Sun Post Newspaper as a printer. He went on to have his own printing company, Apex Printing, for many years. After retirement, Fred continued to work as a security officer for ATK and then as a school bus driver.
Fred loved owning and flying his own plane when he lived in Wisconsin. Fred treasured time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa.
He will be remembered in our hearts by daughters Susan (Steve) Smith and Bonnie (Nick) Lambertz; grandchildren, Elena and Fred Lambertz; and many other relatives and friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Teresa Chapman (Ottenstroer), and his loving parents, Fred and Margaret Chapman.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. at Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven, 5125 W Broadway, Crystal, Minnesota. Doors open at 10 a.m. Luncheon to follow the service.
