Duane Richard Olson, 65, passed away at his home in Frederic on April 10, 2023.
Duane was born on Nov. 3, 1957, in Siren, Wisconsin, to Richard and Dorothy Olson. Duane grew up in Clam Falls and graduated from Frederic High School in 1976. In his senior year, he was all-conference in football. Duane married the love of his life, Susan, on May 19, 2004.
Duane truly loved the outdoors which included hunting, fishing, trapping and watching wildlife and sunrises. But his greatest love was fly-fishing for brown trout with his friend Jeff Holmberg. Duane also enjoyed gardening and taking care of their blueberry farm. He was so proud of what the Rocky Ridge Blueberry Farm has become, and he truly enjoyed visiting with the many customers every summer. After their retirement, Duane and Sue also enjoyed sharing time together at their lake cabin.
Duane is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Travis (Nicole) Karrow, Amy Tendrup and Jeff (Amy) Tendrup; grandchildren, Lexi Karrow, Katie and Autumn Tendrup, and Devin and Madelynn Popham; sister, Sharon (Earl) Jensen; brothers, Bruce (Lisa) Olson and Brad (Vicky) Olson; lifelong friend, Jeff Holmberg; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 14, at the Lewis United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with visitation starting at the church one hour prior to the service.
