David John Kromrey, age 85, of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, at United Pioneer Home in Luck, Wisconsin.
David “Dave” was born Dec. 27, 1940, in Osceola, Wisconsin, to parents Lawrence and Irene (Krenz) Kromrey. He attended Osceola High School, graduating in the Class of 1959. Following high school, he took over the family farm in East Farmington, Wisconsin. Dave had a long, distinguished career working in farming but also many other different trades. He was a farmer, harvester silo salesman, realtor, and electrician. He attended Anoka Technical College to get his electrician background and became part of the INEW union in his later years.
David married Anita Stoebrel and to this union were blessed with five children: Janine, Donald, Ronald, Raymond, and Matthew. Dave loved spending time with his children—taking them to local car shows, air shows, live wrestling events, and Valleyfair—but also putting them to work on the farm and having them help with picking up rocks.
David married Marlys Williams at First Lutheran Church in Amery, Wisconsin, on Dec. 3, 1993, giving them 32 blissful years together. The two enjoyed camping and spending time with family, and attending Balsam Lutheran Church. Dave also spent a lot of time with his cousin, Dave Krenz, enjoying looking at classic cars, and going up to Rice Lake to visit their cousin, Tony.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Marlys; children, Janine (Brian) Belle Isle, Donald (Christina Lund), Ronald, Raymond (Lindsay), Matthew (Kelly), Jeffrey (Leah) Williams, and David Williams; sister, Marlene Bruce; brother, Robert “Bob”; brothers-in-law, Marvin and Alvin Stovern; and many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ione Gleason; and brothers, Eugene and Leon Kromrey.
Memorial services for Dave will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, at Balsam Lutheran Church, 1115 Mains Crossing Ave., Amery, Wisconsin. Visitation one hour prior. Luncheon to follow after service.
