It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our son and brother, Craig, 60, who departed this life on Sept. 7, 2024, at his home in Cartersville, Georgia.
Craig was born on Oct. 30, 1963, in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. He was the son of Francis J. Pratt and Valerie J. Knipfer (Pratt). He grew up primarily in Big Lake, Alaska, moving to Cartersville in the early '90s where he remained for the rest of his life.
Craig began his career as a general automotive mechanic in Big Lake and upon moving to Georgia he attended and graduated from tech school as an ASE Certified Automotive Mechanic. He served the Cartersville area at businesses that included Sears Automotive, Days Chevrolet, Carl Black Chevrolet and most recently Protech Auto in Woodstock.
Craig was known to his friends as a loyal friend, co-worker, and all-around great guy, who always cared more about others before himself and would have done anything to help when asked. He had a passion for the Civil War and World War II history and artifacts. He also was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting, fishing and kayaking.
Craig is survived by his mother, Valerie J. Knipfer, Warsaw, Indiana; sister, Faith L. Klintworth, Silver Lake, Indiana; nephew, Brandon J. Coward (Gabrielle); niece, Brittany J. Hall (Steven); numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and was a very proud great-uncle to Liam, Nolan, Maddox, and Charlotte Coward, Axton, Anistyn, and Raina Hall.
He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Joseph Pratt; brother, Barry Charles Pratt; both maternal and paternal grandparents; and a nephew, Brent DeVere Coward Jr.
We cherish the memories of Craig who brought so much love and laughter to our family and all who knew him. He will be so missed.
Plans for a memorial service are pending arrangements until all friends and family can be notified.
In the hearts of those who loved you, you will always be there.
