Betty Williamson went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 1, 2026, at a family residence in Luck, Wisconsin, where she lived the last six years of her life being cared for by her daughter, Eileen. Betty was born on June 20, 1928, in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, to Basil and Carrie (Shufelt) Monroe. She graduated from Saint Cloud Tech High School. After high school, Betty worked several jobs, including selling shoes, secretarial work and distributing flyers for the Saint Paul YMCA. It was at the YMCA that she met the love of her life, Wallace (Wally) Williamson, who was participating in a weight-lifting competition.
After a short engagement, Wally and Betty were married on June 20, 1946, and to this union had six children. After getting married, they moved to a farm near Dresser, Wisconsin, where over time they were involved with raising mink, sheep, pigs, beef, chickens and horses.
In addition to being a mother and housewife, Betty worked 25 years at UFE in Dresser. She also tended flower and vegetable gardens where she loved to spend time, especially with her peonies and dahlias. Betty enjoyed quilting, making Christmas decorations, and other crafts. Wally and Betty took the family on many memorable summer camping vacations that included a trip to New York City and another to Seaside, Oregon, to visit Betty’s parents.
Betty is survived by her children, Lee (Barb)Williamson, Mary (Steven) Osterbauer, Eileen (Alan) Tomlinson, and Amy Williamson (Mike Olson); her grandchildren, Cathryn (John) Schmolke, Chris (Denise) Williamson, Scott (Sally) Williamson, Katie (Colin) Strom, Michael (Krista) Osterbauer, Tami (Greg) Vazzana, Tricia (Josh) Draves, Travis (Whitney) Jansen, Carrie Joy Hutton, Alyshia Hutton, and Ashley (Mike) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Talia Schmolke, Nathan (Jo) Williamson, Courtney (Mark) Fajardo, Kyle and Hannah Williamson, Kiera, Kasey and Kalin Williamson, Colin Jr., Lucy, Levi and Adeline Strom, Ella, Gabe, Audra, Ben, Isaiah, Caleb, Selah and Dahlia Osterbauer, Austin (Taelor’s fiancé) Vieldhouse, Broden McCune, Annie Vazzana, Tayten and Riley Lien, Wally and William Jansen, Scott Hinz, and Asher Johnson; great-great-grandchildren, Lucy, Kenzie, Maggie and Riley Williamson, Weston and Walker Vieldhouse; brother, William Monroe; son-in law, David McConnell; and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Basil and Carrie Monroe; her husband of 38 years, Wallace Williamson; her daughter, Carrie McConnell; son, Joel; grandson, Craig Osterbauer; sisters, Hazel Robideau, Violet Lindstrom and Dorothy Morency; and brothers, Douglas, Howard and George Monroe.
Betty’s faith was the most important thing in her life. She was a prayer warrior and was involved in the churches she attended as Sunday School teacher, the children’s Awana program and special music. She was inspired by singing gospel music. Some of her favorite verses were; Hebrews 13:5-8, Colossians 2:20 and Psalms 141. There is great consolation for Betty’s family in knowing that she is in heaven with Jesus Christ. Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and Betty’s acceptance of Him as Savior made her salvation possible.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at Alliance Church of the Valley, St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
