ST. CROIX FALLS – The St. Croix Falls Middle School revamped the classic tale of Snow White in “The Snow White Variety Show,” performed on Friday, March 7, and Saturday, March 8. Directed by Lindsay Spindler, the production reimagined the story from the dwarves’ perspective, narrated by announcer Huey Perbole played by Morgan Anderson, much to the delight of a full house of attendees.

The show introduced seven dwarves with new identities—Wordy (Wesley Iserman), Rowdy (Zach Matyska), Nerdy (Shaeena Nyland), Weepy (Audrey Schmidt), Creepy (Graysen Janes), Bob (Micah Hoyt), and Howdy (Holt Anderson), with each bringing bold personalities that reshaped the familiar narrative. Greta Williamson starred as the “Real Snow White.” The cast of over 16 included standout roles like the Evil Queen (Savanna Viebrock), Huntsman (Elijah Alwin), and Prince (Silas Nash), alongside quirky additions like Goldilocks (Makenna Douglas) and an Ogre (Logan Aaron).

Interspersed with the plot were humorous fun “commercials,” spotlighting sponsors like Big Bad Wolf’s bigbadhouseflippers.com; Rumplestiltskin’s Gold Emporium, which demanded a firstborn child as payment; and Granny’s legal services, boasting wins for the Three Bears, Hansel and Gretel, and the Ugly Duckling. The youth-driven production featured student-crafted backdrops and scenery, with work that began before Christmas.

This event was part of the middle school’s annual performance, but was its first variety show style compilation. “It’s my daughter’s second show, but this Snow White twist is a first,” one parent said, laughing about the clever performance. The auditorium was loud with applause and laughter during the last performance on Saturday, March 8. Spindler praised the cast’s growth and the inclusive approach that welcomed all 16-plus auditionees. “It’s a talk show vibe, with the dwarves sharing their take on Snow White,” she said, crediting tech director Kari Svoboda, parents, and community members for their support. It was also noted that a recorded link would be available later.
