WEBSTER – Northwest Passage Gallery opened their space on Friday, March 7, for an exhibition featuring the works of local students. Young artists from the Frederic, Webster, Grantsburg and Luck school districts, and from Northwest Passage, had the opportunity to display their work to the public. The Sixth-Annual Student Art Show, sponsored by Burnett Area Arts, is exhibiting works by local students in grades nine through 12 and runs through Sunday, March 16. The evening of March 7 saw a gallery full of people for a reception and certificate presentation. Duke Tucker, the Wisconsin State Assembly representative from the 75th district, was on hand to present certificates to the student artists in attendance and speak with the creators about their work.
Burnett Area Arts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit who sponsors the event, promotes the arts in Northwest Wisconsin and provides up to four scholarships yearly to area students who wish to pursue a degree in the arts. The exhibit will be open to the public until March 16 at the Northwest Passage Gallery, one mile south of Webster on State Road 35. They will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for those who want to view the works of these talented students.
