Richard Dean Kelley passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sept. 26 at the age of 86.
Richard (Dick) was born in Aurora, Illinois. He married the love of his life, Janet Eleanor (Holstein), and had three beautiful daughters, Cheryl (Paul) Kinsella, Carol (Eric) Polson, and Lori Kelley (Scott).
Dick proudly served in the Marines, and as you would expect, was as tough as they come. He returned to the States, married Janet, and purchased Kelley’s Cove Resort in Siren, Wisconsin. He and Janet ran the resort on Clam Lake for 10 years, and entertained so many, before buying a home in town.
Dick loved many things, but outside of his family, you could find him at his second home … any barstool in Siren! His many friends and bartenders will definitely miss him. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He only knew one way, being honest and blunt, so you always knew where you stood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Kelley; and siblings, Russel Kelley and Geraldine Kelley. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Paluska; grandchildren, Paige, Keagan (Derek), Quinn (Zach), Ryan (Corey), Dalton, and Bedilu; two great-grandchildren; and so many friends.
Celebration of Life to be held at Last Call Tavern in Siren, on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 2 to 5 p.m.
The family would like to thank the North Memorial Hospital ER and ICU staff (Robbinsdale, Minnesota) for making the last few days ones of comfort, compassion, and kindness for Dick. Your support was above and beyond––we are extremely grateful.
