Pastor Harry H. “Bucky” Buckwalter, Jr., a man of deep faith and boundless love, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, surrounded by his devoted wife, Linda, his cherished children, and his beloved pets. Born on July 24, 1947, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to Harry and Velma Buckwalter, Bucky’s life was a testament to service, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Growing up in Christiana, Pennsylvania, alongside his five siblings—Wayne (Pat), Denny (Diane), Sandy (Bill), Donny (Carol), and Janet (Charlie)—Bucky enjoyed a spirited childhood filled with baseball, fishing, and a touch of youthful mischief. His passion for Christ blossomed during his teen years with Youth for Christ.
Bucky pursued theological studies at Columbia Bible College, Lancaster Bible College, Trinity College, and Shama Bible Institute. He later earned his Master’s and Doctorate of Divinity from Slidell Baptist Seminary in 2010, graduating Magna Cum Laude. While he initially left college to work, notably founding Key West Manufacturing, Inc., in 1991, his calling to ministry was undeniable. In 1998, he returned to his studies and dedicated his life to the Lord.
From 2001 to 2007, he shared his faith through Calvary Love Radio Ministries. His pastoral heart led him to serve numerous churches, including Lakeview Baptist Church in Hudson, Florida, a mission close to his heart, where he and his congregation provided food and support to hundreds of homeless and struggling families each week.
Beyond his ministry, Bucky embraced life with joy. He was an avid sportsman, highly competitive golfer, bowler and played on the Barefoot Bay Senior Softball team, and he found pleasure in fishing and traveling. He was a constant student of the Bible and a lover of Southern Gospel music. Known for his playful spirit, Bucky delighted in practical jokes and cherished teaching his grandchildren to swim—a lesson often started with a playful toss into the pool.
Bucky was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Linda; his children: Kimberly (John), Randy (Jen), Rod (Katie), Jason, Justin (Michelle), Jennifer (Cory), Danielle (Bobby), and Jourdan (Jerry); his stepchildren, David (Nancie) and Annie (Mike); 28 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his siblings; and his faithful pets, Blondie and Millie.
His legacy of faith, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
“We will celebrate Bucky’s remarkable life on Saturday, April 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Chapel, with Pastor Craig Szeman officiating. The family is deeply grateful for the exceptional care and kindness provided by Vitas Healthcare during Bucky’s hospice comfort care.”
