Marion Deenie (Burnstad) Fox, age 91, of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2023, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family.

She was born July 7, 1931, on the family farm in the Trap Rock community near Eureka Township to Charles and Ella (Peterson) Burnstad. She had three brothers, Russell, Don and Floyd, and four sisters, baby Lucille, Doris, Victoria and Florence; all preceded her in death.

Marion grew up on the family farm and attended Milltown High School. During her junior year, she and her parents moved to Eureka. Marion graduated from St. Croix Falls High School where she was a cheerleader and a drummer in the high school band.

Marion and Gordon were married at First Lutheran Church of Cushing on July 14, 1951. After living and working in Minneapolis for two years, they built their home in St. Croix Falls and lived there for 70 years.

Marion and Gordon raised a family of four while Marion supported her husband’s general contracting business as his bookkeeper. In 1980, she worked as a financial specialist at Wisconsin Interstate Park, retiring after 17 years of service. Marion was active in the community with the local Lioness Club, Eureka Homemakers, and as a lifelong member of Cushing Lutheran Church. Over the years Marion volunteered at Wisconsin Interstate Park and the St. Croix hospital.

Marion enjoyed friends and family gatherings, spending time at Spirit Lake and at the Clam River cabin. Marion enjoyed hosting Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, but only if Gordon agreed to do the dishes. She and Gordon enjoyed traveling and spent retirement winters in Orange Beach, Alabama, and then in Mesa, Arizona.

Marion enrolled in hospice care in September 2022, following a diagnosis of cancer. She remained in the comfort of her home with her children by her side until her death.

Marion was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Gordon. She is survived by her children, Lynnette (Greg) Lyons of Two Harbors, Minnesota, Lonnie (Joan) Fox of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Julieann Fox (Michael Smith) of Siren, Wisconsin, and Janelle Fox (Deven Hui) of Rochester, Minnesota; grandchildren, Brad (Heather) Fox, Charlie (Andrea) Lyons, Alyssa (John) Johnson, Jenna Fox, Ian Martin and Nathan Martin; and six great-grandchildren, Logan and Josie Johnson, Graham and Wesley Fox, Haven Martin and Alexander Lyons.
