Linnea “Lindy” Demae Jensen, 93, of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, at St. Croix Regional Medical Center in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. Lindy was born Nov. 10, 1931, at home on the family farm in Stark, Minnesota, the second child of Carl and Juno (Falk) Johnson.
She attended Stark School until her sophomore year when they moved to Almelund, Minnesota, and she graduated from Chisago Lakes High School in 1949. On Oct. 25, 1952, Lindy married William Jensen in Almelund; to this union, one daughter was born.
Lindy was one smart lady, diligent and dedicated, and worked for the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the Russell Miller Milling Company, the local sewing factory, and then at Polk-Burnett Electric Coop, where she completed her career of 50+ years of service. Additionally, Lindy was also doing the accounting for her husband’s trucking company.
Lindy’s priority was a commitment to family and friends. She retired for the sake of caring for her husband. She raised their daughter and thoroughly enjoyed assisting in raising their grandchildren, Lacey and Tim, and then great-grandchildren, Rowan and Oakley. Family gatherings were her favorite activity for making memories together.
Hobbies varied over her lengthy lifetime, and favored ones included water skiing, crocheting, embroidering, growing plants, fishing, reading, and socializing. Lindy was always ready to enjoy the adventure of travel whenever and wherever it was offered. Bill and Lindy treasured their trips with Harvey and Zoe Emerson to Canada fishing, sharing laughs and making memories. More recently, she enjoyed the Wednesday morning breakfast club, participating in the WELCA group, and her view of Paula Park.
If you knew Lindy, you knew she saw the positive in everything. Her favorite quote, “you need to have the bad days to appreciate the good ones” fits her theory of life. Her grandchildren always referred to her as the perfect little grandma figure. She was determined to remain independent, and her cheerful optimism and stellar faith will be deeply missed. Lindy is loved by many.
Heartfelt thanks and appreciation to St. Croix Hospital professionals for their compassionate care and kindness that provided Lindy comfort during her final days and significantly impacted her family during this difficult time. Also, to Lawson Manor in Luck, and Frederic Nursing and Rehab for your loving assistance, attention, and support for her care.
Lindy leaves to celebrate her memory: daughter, Sue (Dean) Reed; grandchildren, Lacey (Corey) Fisk and Tim (Bridget) Reed; great-grandchildren, Rowan, Oakley, Ellis, Amos, and Ingrid; sisters, Virginia Aasmundrud and Cynthia Weyrhauch; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, William Jensen; parents, Carl and Juno Johnson; brothers, Roger and Edward Johnson; and sisters, Joyce Oium and Diane Wilmer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, on Friday, March 28, at 11 a.m., with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Please join the family for lunch and fellowship in the church basement following the service. Lindy will be laid to rest at the Balsam Lake Cemetery at a later date.
The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with the arrangements.
