LaVera Erickson, age 87, of Grantsburg, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Benedictine Health Center in Duluth, Minnesota. LaVera was born Sept. 30, 1937, in Luck, Wisconsin. She was the youngest child of Vera (Marsh) and Edward Remley of Luck, Wisconsin.

She graduated from Cumberland High School, Cumberland, Wisconsin, in 1955. She married David Erickson on Jan. 30, 1959, and they remained married until his untimely and unexpected death on Jan. 14, 2001. They had four children, Valorie, Craig, Peter and Paul. LaVera was a homemaker for many years, with her and Dave operating a dairy farm. As the children grew older, she worked as a bookkeeper for several years at Anderson Oil Company, Northwestern Electric Company and Northern Manufacturing.

In retirement, she enjoyed spending time at the Grantsburg Community Center participating in numerous social activities.

LaVera was very strong in her faith and relationship with the Lord. She was a longstanding member of Grace Baptist Church (now Grace Church) in Grantsburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave; her son, Craig; her daughter, Valorie; son-in-law, Joel Eggebrecht; her granddaughter, Jessalyn Prior; and her siblings, Jack, Mary Lou, Harry and Sarah.

She is survived by her son, Pete (Sue) Erickson, of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; son, Paul Erickson, of Frederic, Wisconsin; grandson, Craig (Andrea Flike) Prior, of Superior, Wisconsin; grandson, Brett (Kortney Kohnke) Erickson, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; granddaughter, Emma (Tyler Rust) Erickson, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; great granddaughters, Tricia (Jon) Bruder, of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Charlesa (Emma Rooks) Prior, of Rogers, Minnesota; great-grandson, Cole (Brittnee Schiff) Prior, and great-great-granddaughter, Isabele Prior, of Superior; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, at Grace Church in Grantsburg. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. LaVera will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Grantsburg. Online condolences may be expressed at swedberg-taylor.com.
