Janet Phyllis Schell, age 78, a resident of Hertel, Wisconsin, passed away on Dec. 30, 2024 at Cumberland Healthcare. Janet was born on Aug. 6, 1946 in Stillwater, Minnesota, to parents Roy and Fayra Papenfuss.
After graduating from Stillwater High School, she worked as a Trouble Locator for NSP, now Excel Energy Company. In 1985 she became the owner and operator of the Misty Pines Bar.
Janet loved to listen to Elvis Presley and Alan Jackson. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Fayra; brother, Harold; husband, Thomas Schell; life partner, Gerald Stern; and grandson, Nathon Bauer Sr.
Janet is survived by her son, Leonard; brother, John Papenfuss; grandson, Kyle; great-grandsons, Nathon and Devin; along with other relatives and many dear friends.
The memorial service for Janet will take place on Monday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m. at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster, Wisconsin, (visitation from 12 -1 p.m.) with a luncheon to follow at Misty Pines Bar in Hertel.
