Eunice C. Tollander was born in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, on Jan. 3, 1927, to Oscar and Clara (Hermstad) Hendricks. Eunice was the eighth of nine children. She worked around the farm and attended Lafollette School in Bone Lake Township, Wisconsin, for eight years. She then moved to Superior, Wisconsin, then onto Minneapolis, Minnesota, and returned to Luck, Wisconsin, at the age of 20. She worked as a store clerk and a telephone operator.

She also worked in a restaurant in Luck, and this is where she met Charlie the love of her life, and she married him May 21, 1949, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Luck. Two sons were born to this union, Roger and Tim. In Feb. 1955 the family moved to Webster, Wisconsin, where they went into the insurance and real estate business. Eunice taught herself how to type out of a book on a borrowed manual typewriter, she then started working in the office in 1956. Eunice and Charlie retired from that business in 1975.

Eunice loved the outdoors, yard work, gardening, cross country skiing, sliding in the winter with the boys, swimming, bike riding and water skiing. She sang in the church choir for 45 years, and with the “Sweet Adelines” for three years, taught Sunday School for 11 years and was also a Cub Scout leader. She was active in the Hook & Cook Homemakers, served on the Christian Women’s board for 25 years and was always active in her church. In later years, she learned to enjoy golf and organized the first group of about 36 ladies to golf at Fox Run Golf Course. She also loved sewing, knitting, crocheting and cooking.

Eunice passed away Oct. 11, 2025, at the age of 98.
