Edna Annette (Borup) Peterson, 92, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, June 11, 2023. Born April 26, 1931, she is the daughter of the late Alfred and Anna Borup, the fifth of seven children. Edna is a graduate of Frederic High School. She met and later married the Rev. Alvin M. Peterson on June 9, 1956, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 2020.
Edna was faithful and dedicated in church work as she supported Pastor Al in his ministry work throughout her life. They served at Mount Caramel, Milwaukee; Gloria Dei Lutheran, Menomonee Falls; Emanuel Lutheran, Seymour; and Faith Lutheran, Milwaukee until Pastor Al retired in 1994. She was a wonderful supportive mother of Brad and Anne, encouraging them through life and loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She was a true caregiver and looked for opportunities to serve the Lord in everything she did.
Edna was a huge sports fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, Marquette University basketball and local high school teams.
Edna is survived by two children, Bradley Peterson and Anne (Chris) Krueger; grandchildren, Jerad (Shannon) Clifford, Eric (Kelsey) Clifford and Carissa Clifford; great-grandsons, Charles, Winston and Maverick; brother, Carl (Arlene) Borup; sister, Fran McLeod; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 64 years, Pastor Al; sisters, Effie (Chester) Gustafson, Alice (Harvey) Dallman, Mae (Myron) Anderson and Helen (Dean) Tventen; and a brother-in-law, Bob McLeod.
A memorial service was held at Woodside Lutheran Home in Green Bay, on June 27.
There will be a graveside service for both Pastor Al and Edna at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery of Bone Lake, 997 280th Ave., Frederic, WI 54837, on Saturday, July 29, at 11 a.m.
