Doris Louise Janssen, 84, of Webster, Wisconsin, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at GracePointe Crossing Assisted Living in Cambridge, Minnesota.

Doris was born on Dec. 25, 1938, in Breckenridge, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Gust and Elizabeth Niemann. Doris married Bill on July 24, 1957, at the First Methodist Church in Reno, Nevada. They lived in California and New Brighton, Minnesota, for a short time. They then bought a house in Blaine, Minnesota, to raise their children. In 1978, Doris and Bill built their underground house in Danbury, Wisconsin. They lived there for 24 years, enjoying retirement and traveling. In 2002, they had a home built in Webster. After Bill’s passing in 2011, Doris lived in the house for five more years. She then moved to GracePointe Crossing Assisted Living for her remaining years.

Doris enjoyed sewing, playing cards, gardening and spending time with family and friends. When her sons were young, she enjoyed being a den mother for the Cub Scouts. She also enjoyed cutting and styling hair for friends and family. Doris was also a crossword puzzle extraordinaire and an avid reader. Her real joy in life was reading and studying her Bible daily.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Janssen; brothers, Donny Niemann and Dennis Niemann; and sisters, Delores Beeson and Diana Olson.

Doris leaves to celebrate her memory, children, Gerald (Pam) Janssen, Brenda Strassburg, Patty (Richard) McLaird, Kent (Carolyn) Janssen, Kevin (Suzy) Janssen, Keith (Lisa) Janssen, and Billy (Jeanne) Janssen; sister, Dixie DeMaio; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth McCarthy, Gloria Janssen, Barbara Niemann and Jeanette Niemann; 30 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
