Dell Leonard Hederman, a loving partner, father and grandfather passed away peacefully March 10, 2025, at the age of 82.

Dell (with two L’s as he would commonly tell you) is survived by his loving partner, Sandy; children, Terry Hederman, Kim(Rob) Peterson and April(Yuri) Prestwood; and grandchildren, Kalel and Isis Prestwood. Dell had bonus children/grandchildren in his life that were very loved by him: Dyneil Tadros and grandchildren, Dempsey and Immy, James Ferkingstad, Andrea(Sean)Kuhl and Mary Ferkingstad. He is also survived by brothers, Gary Andersen, Jerry(Helena) Hederman, and Dan(Judy) Hederman; and sisters, Kris(Kenny) Hackett, Karna(Jim)Mortimer; and many other friends and family. I know his Heavenly welcome will be led by his mother, June; and his beloved sister, Judy Rundblade; amongst many others.

Dell was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 5, 1942, to Wally and June(Swanson) Hederman. June later remarried Louie Moline, who Dell would refer to as Dad through the remainder of his life.

Dell had an extraordinary sense of humor. Always teasing, ribbing and stirring the pot! He found amusement in most everything. He naturally made situations fun and his personality drew people to him. You wanted to be around Dell! Total rock star! He also had some mean dance moves when he heard Mambo #5 play.

He proudly served in the Navy aboard the USS Hancock (CV/CA-19) Aircraft Carrier. He served as a fire fighter. He was also a member of St. Paul Shriners and the Lewis, Wisconsin VFW. He also supported Wounded Warriors, donating financially. Dell worked at Midwest Warehouse for 25 years and was a Teamster member of Union Local 544.

He was also a business owner. He owned the U Otter Stop Inn Bar in Northeast Minneapolis and Celebrity Enterprises Karaoke Company. He would often donate his time and services for benefits, graduations & weddings. He enjoyed, and lived for sports of all kinds but was a diehard Green Bay Packers fan! He loved reading his Packer Report while snacking on sunflower seeds and chocolate covered raisins. In high school he excelled in football and track. He had a long-held Frederic High School (Wisconsin) track record and had went to state! He was heavily involved in slow pitch softball for Mandelles and Dan Dee Maintenance. He coached the Rolling Gophers wheelchair basketball team and was an avid bowler, earning a 300 ring! Once he wasn’t actively bowling, he LOVED “coaching” his teammates. Always there to lend advice…or something like that. In his later years, golf was his big passion. Dell was very involved in his kids highschool sports games. Always in the stands cheering us on!

Very loving dad. So many conversations and advice throughout our adolescent years and as becoming adults. Do as I say, not as I do was one of his many mottos.

As he slowed down a bit in life, he was pretty obsessed with antiquing. Dell had a great eye! He literally had hundreds of antiques, mostly old military type items such as toy soldiers/medics/horses/carriages but there were many, many others. He enjoyed this “hobby” with his loving and beautiful partner Sandy who tolerated it with a smile and smirk, and maybe some words of her own wisdom for him.

Dell was loving/kind/gracious & at times tenacious. He was full of life. Throughout life, he would tell us that “he has lived a wonderful life”. Emphasis on WONDERFUL!

Dad, you were deeply loved, and we miss you immensely. You have always been someone we could turn to for laughter, love and support. The loss of you is extremely painful. In addition to being a loving father, you were a friend. We have comfort in our memories and knowing you are with Jesus and so many friends and family.

Thank you for loving him perfectly Sandy. He adored you. You were his perfect love. I am hoping that the cooks at the Perkins in Heaven burn that bacon just right and always ensure he has the paper to read while enjoying breakfast.

No service will be held as Dad wanted his ashes laid in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
