Barbara Claire Pelle, 83, of Frederic, Wisconsin, was called home by Jesus on Feb. 8, 2025, to spend eternity with Him.
Barbara was born Sept. 28, 1941, to Vern and Sylvia (Hendricks) Larson and was raised in Superior, Wisconsin. While growing up, she enjoyed spending time at the cabin and at the family homestead farm on Pine Lake near Luck. After graduating from Superior Central High School, Barbara moved with her parents and sisters to California where she met the love of her life and was married a year later. After 16 years in California, Barbara was drawn back to her native Wisconsin, so she, Ralph and their three sons relocated to the Frederic area where she lived until her passing.
After raising her children, Barbara attained her associate’s degree in finance and worked as a bookkeeper for several area businesses. She was also active in the Frederic community serving as the coordinator for the Family Days parade for several years and also as a parade judge. Barbara was an active person who loved being outside. Whether gardening, mowing the lawn or shoveling snow, she always stayed busy.
Family was important to Barbara, and she made sure to stress that to her sons. Holiday gatherings and the annual Hermstad/Hendricks family reunion were treasured times for Barbara. She shared many fond memories of times with her cousins. Barbara also enjoyed spending time researching her family tree.
Barbara is survived and deeply missed by her loving husband of over 64 years, Ralph; sons, Mike (Lisa), Ron, and Eric (Amy); grandsons, Aaron (Alexis), Greg, Joe, and Ryan (Ximona); sisters, Carol (Larry) Matchett, Judy Miller, and Marilyn Krehbiel; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Sylvia Larson, and her parents-in-law, Ray and Irene Pelle.
The funeral service will be held at Crosswalk Community Church in Frederic on Friday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be given to St. Croix Hospice or Crosswalk Community Church.
Barbara will be laid to rest at Bone Lake Zion Lutheran Cemetery in the spring. Casket bearers will be her grandsons, Aaron, Joseph, Ryan and Gregory Pelle.
The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria, Wisconsin, has been entrusted with arrangements.
