Exilda Mae Memmer, a deeply loved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on June 14, 2025 in Frederic, Wisconsin, at the age of 88. Her loss is felt deeply by all who knew and loved her.
Exilda was born on Sept. 29, 1936, in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, to the late Sanford and Rose (Burkhardt) Vernier. She married Frederick Memmer on Dec. 27, 1958, and they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a beautiful life – raised a family, ran several successful business ventures, and made a home in Luck, Wisconsin. She was the proud mother of five children and a loving grandmother to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She had a natural warmth that drew people in and a heart that was always open to those who needed a little extra care. She loved a good visit over a fresh cup of coffee, where stories, laughter, and the sounds of classic country music often filled the room. A gracious host, she loved having holiday gatherings where her home was filled with the joy of togetherness and delicious food. She also had a flair for fashion, always looking put-together with her signature style. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she rarely missed a Sunday at church. Above all, her sense of humor was one of her most cherished traits and her laugh and smile were as familiar and comforting as home.
Exilda was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Delores, Clifford, Richard, Del, Carol, Clarice, Cletus and Gary; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Memmer.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Fred; children, Elizabeth (Thomas) Bean, Philip (Valerie) Memmer, Joseph (Sandra) Memmer, Stephanie (Mark) Spease and Jon (Rayna) Memmer; siblings, Florence, Audrey, Rachel and Daryl; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arrangements for a celebration of her life will be announced at a later time.
Exilda will be dearly missed by family and friends. Her love will live on in the stories we share and the traditions we keep.
