MADISON – Nevaeh Nwachukwu provided a podium finish for the St. Croix Falls girls wrestling team at the WIAA state finals last weekend.

She led three state finalists for the Saints, winning three of her four matches for a third-place finish in the 138 division.

Nwachukwu opened with a win by technical fall over Hailey Firari (Horicon) and followed with a 4-0 win over Madeline Faulkner (Xavier).

However, her path to a potential state title was detoured by a loss in 1 minute, 34 seconds to Riley Hanrahan (Black River Falls) and she went to the third-place match, where she won an 8-5 decision over Althea Eckdhal (Monroe).

Julianna Johnson, 114, and Kylie Miller, 145, also reached the state final but both were defeated in two matches, as were Unity’s Evelyn Fugate, 165, and LFGS’ Ezibella Savage, 235.
