Margaret (Peg/Peggy) M. Stary (Gockowski), age 88, of Milltown, Wisconsin, (formerly of St. Anthony Park, St. Paul, Minnesota and The Villages of Lady Lakes, Florida) died unexpectedly on Dec. 14, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Don, of 68 years, and is survived by children, Kathy (Jeff) Weeks, Linda (Mark) Ficcadenti, Mike, Bob, Ron (Dawn), and Laura Mussehl; grandchildren, Melissa, Angela, Kristi, Michelle, Dan, Kim, Brian, Ben, Andy, Allysia, Eric, Jim and Adam; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Peg was an extroverted, happy “people person” all the way, who very much enjoyed telling corny (and sometimes inappropriate) jokes. “Thanks for coming—and thanks for leaving,” was one of her favorite sayings to us and her grandkids after some of our chaotic visits. Besides being an extraordinary homemaker, Mom had several jobs through the years, mostly in food service. The perfect fit for a fun-loving person, her job as the “deli lady” at the St. Paul Midway K-Mart afforded her many opportunities to announce the “blue-light specials”, which she enjoyed giving to the fullest—and hopefully the shoppers were entertained! But nothing brought her more joy than being Mom and Grandma, and doting on our dearly departed Dad.
Nothing was more important to her than her faith. We were all so blessed to have our parents/grandparents with us for such a long time. Eternal rest grant unto them, oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Amen.
Special thanks to the compassionate caregivers at Dove Healthcare while Mom was recovering in the TCU, with great hopes of returning to her beloved home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Our Lady of the Lakes, in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, with visitation one hour prior and lunch to follow.
