Carol McQuillan, 69, of Comstock, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, with her loving family at her side, after a brave battle with cancer. Carol was born on July 30, 1955, to Robert and Marian Bollman in Winona, Minnesota.

After high school Carol went on to cosmetology school at SE Tech School in Winona and loved making her clients, friends, and family beautiful with her craft. Carol married the love of her life, Dennis, on March 25, 1994, in Buffalo, Minnesota. They lived in Corcoran, Minnesota, until moving to Comstock in April of 1994. Carol worked at the Turtle Lake Casino until 2008 when her dream of owning a bar/restaurant became a reality. Carol and Denny opened the Thirsty Otter and until retirement in 2022 had wild success beyond what they’d hoped for. Carol supported many causes and friends at the “Otter” through benefits and events including the Retina Rumble, Winterfest, Halloween, Summer Luau, and benefits for families or individuals when any need arose. Carol’s hard work and dedication at the Thirsty Otter help revitalize the beautiful city of Balsam Lake.

Carol loved hosting family events at her home on Pipe Lake. Her parents equally loved the times spent at Carol’s along with her siblings that all have many beautiful and fun memories of times at Carol’s home.

Carol is survived by her husband, Denny; son, Brodie, (Robyn); grandsons, Jameson and Bennett and special self-adopted granddaughter, Anika; daughter, Cally (SIL Dan); siblings, Joyce (Tom) Burke, Marti Bollman, Christine Bollman, Bruce (Lori) Bollman, and Barb (Dave) Derse; and many nieces and nephews, including her favorite niece, Kacie Vinton, and favorite nephew, Lance Westby. She is also survived by her many friends who truly loved Carol.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marian Bollman.

A memorial service for Carol will be held at Joy Lutheran Church in Centuria, Wisconsin, on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at 1 p.m. Carol’s family will greet guests at the church from 11 A.M. until the time of the service.

Please join the family for a continued Celebration of Life, a warm meal and music by Lyzander at Pub 35, 2378 WI-35, Milltown, Wisconsin, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Flowers are preferred to be delivered to Pub 35 rather than Joy Lutheran Church.
